Your Thoughts Thursday: Mid Vegan MoFo

November 18, 2010 by Keri

I was planning to go back to my usual topics for this YTT, but since everyone might be a little too exhausted from all that cooking, baking, and creating to think too hard, I’ve decided to go with something a little more MoFo.  This is my first Vegan MoFo and I’ve loved scrolling through all of your edible masterpieces.  Seeing a thousand plus unread items in my reader makes me a little panicky, but when I relax and see the big picture, I realize how much vegan awesomeness is being sent out into the world.  And that’s just amazing!  Since we’re mid-Vegan-MoFo, I’m curious how your Vegan Month of Food is going so far.  Let’s all share notes!  Answer them all, or just choose a few that apply!  As always, you can answer on your own blog or in the comments below, but I do want to mention that if you answer below and your answer has more than one link, it will probably get picked up as spam.  No worries, I’ll approve it in a very timely manner.  I just didn’t want you to be concerned when you couldn’t figure out why the comment you just spent so much time on wasn’t showing up.  So, in the words of the husband, “Are you sick of cooking yet?!”

If you’re a blogger, have you been a good little MoFoer?  Have you been meeting the goals you set for yourself?

For those who weren’t daily food bloggers, has blogging about food every day been overwhelming?

Have you been making your meals fancier or more put-together than usual simply because of Vegan MoFo?

What new favorite blogs have you found through Vegan MoFo?

What have been a few of your favorite posts from other bloggers so far this month?

If you blog, what’s your favorite MoFo post from your own blog?

What, if any, blogger MoFo recipes have you tried?  Have you marked any to try soon?  If there are a lot, which one is at the top of your list?

Have you purchased anything, food or otherwise, this month because of a blogger recommendation?  Were you glad it was recommended?

What new ingredients or techniques have you learned about?

What Vegan MoFo giveaways have you entered?  Have you won anything?!

Do you know anyone who has been inspired to go vegan this month?  Have you inspired anyone to make the change?

How much do you love Vegan Month of Food?!

If you’re a blogger, have you been a good little MoFoer? Have you been meeting the goals you set for yourself?
    Yes, surprisingly!

For those who weren’t daily food bloggers, has blogging about food every day been overwhelming?
At first it was a bit, because I continued to have elaborate posts like I usually do. I realized that one or two quick posts a week makes all the difference in keeping myself from being overwhelmed.

Have you been making your meals fancier or more put-together than usual simply because of Vegan MoFo?
    Not really

What new favorite blogs have you found through Vegan MoFo?
Get Sconed, Mo Betta Vegan, Vegan Eats and Treats

What have been a few of your favorite posts from other bloggers so far this month?
Mo Betta Vegan had the cutest tea party post this week.

If you blog, what’s your favorite MoFo post from your own blog?
Toss up between the Awesome Homemade Vegan Bacon and Pumpkin Black Bean Chili, which incidentally have been my most popular posts.

What, if any, blogger MoFo recipes have you tried? Have you marked any to try soon? If there are a lot, which one is at the top of your list?
I made Isa’s Butternut Rancheros and Swell Vegan’s Cilantro Pepita dressing

Have you purchased anything, food or otherwise, this month because of a blogger recommendation? Were you glad it was recommended?
I bought Panda With Cookie’s personalized plush monster ornament. Adorable!

What new ingredients or techniques have you learned about?
    Char broiling butternut squash (heavenly)

What Vegan MoFo giveaways have you entered? Have you won anything?!
I entered a Diet Dessert and Dogs chocolate giveaway, no winnings!

Do you know anyone who has been inspired to go vegan this month? Have you inspired anyone to make the change?
    No

With all of my heart :)

  2. Fun questions, Keri!

If you’re a blogger, have you been a good little MoFoer? Have you been meeting the goals you set for yourself?
I’ve surpassed my goals. I hoped I could post five times a week. So far I’m 18 for 18! (granted I do “recap” posts on Saturday) :)

For those who weren’t daily food bloggers, has blogging about food every day been overwhelming?
I was not a daily food blogger, and don’t want to be, but I’ve been surprised at how easy it has been. Just requires a little planning and a camera handy at all times.

Have you been making your meals fancier or more put-together than usual simply because of Vegan MoFo?
Nope, same ole same ole for me…though, on the weekends we’ve been making more “meals” (as opposed to noshing)

What new favorite blogs have you found through Vegan MoFo?
Too many to name. I’ve subscribed to a lot of new (to me) blogs!

If you blog, what’s your favorite MoFo post from your own blog?
I like my Monday posts, where I share all of the good eats my hubby and I made over the weekend.

Do you know anyone who has been inspired to go vegan this month? Have you inspired anyone to make the change?

I got an email from someone who is over 40 (like me) and wants to try vegan again and to take up running (like me, doing both over 40). That was awesome!

How much do you love Vegan Month of Food?!
    Too much for words!!

    That’s a lot of questions!

-I have met my goals, it is easier than I thought it would be

For those who weren’t daily food bloggers, has blogging about food every day been overwhelming?
-I was nervous on day 1 because I didn’t have anything ready, but after that it has been really nice to have the motivation to blog every day/

What have been a few of your favorite posts from other bloggers so far this month?

If you blog, what’s your favorite MoFo post from your own blog?
my favorite is my refried beans post, I have been working on the recipe for a long time and now it is perfect

How much do you love Vegan Month of Food?! so much!

  4. I have really enjoyed participating in Vegan MoFo this year — I’ve never done this before! Blogging every day is a challenge, but I’ve only missed one day so far! I’ve been more planful with my posts, prepping them ahead of time and setting them to post on days when I know I’m not going to have time. I’ve also used MoFo as an excuse to get together with fellow blogger friends and shop crazy amounts of ethnic grocery stores, and I’m going to make a whopper of a pre-Thanksgiving feast this weekend! I’ve also made a big effort to try and read new blogs, (like yours!) which I’m typically not that good at. Hooray for Vegan MoFo!
