Vegan Praline Sweet Potato Mash

This is great to make as a sweet little dessert-like vegan side dish for any meal, but I also love to make it on a larger scale for holidays and family get-togethers.  It looks so pretty and delicious in a nice serving dish topped off with sparkling brown sugar and toasted pecan halves.  But last night I just made the small batch as a side dish to our basic whole wheat shells and marinara. Yum!

Vegan Side Dish Recipes


  • 3 large sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into large chunks
  • 1 tablespoon vegan butter
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup pecan halves, toasted

Boil or steam sweet potato chunks until tender throughout.  Drain sweet potatoes.  In a large mixing bowl, combine sweet potatoes, butter, and one tablespoon brown sugar.  With a mixer, beat on medium speed until smooth.  Whip on high speed setting for one minute to fluff.  Smooth mashed sweet potatoes into serving dish.  Top with remaining brown sugar and toasted pecan halves.  Enjoy!
