Vegan Burgers And Baked Fries
After my strange day yesterday, I went with the simplicity of vegan burgers and fries for dinner. I received a Fantastic Foods vegetarian/vegan burger mix in my Easter basket from Mom so I wanted to try them, and wow are they quick and easy to make! After just adding boiling water, letting set, and forming patties, they were pan-frying on the oven.
To go with the burgers, I had to make baked fries lest I be unAmerican! While I love seasoned fries, I made these by simply tossing cut golden potatoes in olive oil, sea salt, and black pepper and baked them at 450 degrees for 15 minutes per side (30 minutes total). Since we’re out of ketchup and can’t get the HFCS-free stuff locally, I decided to make my own. With it’s fresh tomato flavor, unpasteurized texture, and lack of radioactive-red pigmentation, it may not have been recognizable as ketchup, but it was really tasty!
