Happy Birthday To Me, Vegan-Style
This post title probably couldn’t be more narcissistic, but I’m alright with that. Yesterday, my family had a little birthday party for me and it was so much fun. First was the food. My mom made vegan black bean burgers from Veganomicon: The Ultimate Vegan Cookbook, cranberry broccoli slaw, baked beans, corn on the cob, plus fresh fruit and veggie trays. Those Veganomiburgers are awesome!
And of course I made Golden Cupcakes with cream cheese frosting and silver sprinkles from VCTOTW!!
It was an absolutely beautiful day to play outside after a great meal. There was even a slip ‘n slide (which I’m not posting pictures of due to the mostly naked children running around on it)!!
I was definitely not expecting gifts because I’d already received my present from my mom and dad early, but my mom surprised me with something amazing!! Remember last month when I posted about the fabulous Christy Robinson’s eco and animal friendly jewelry designs? Well, I joked about which designs my parents should get me for my birthday. I was kidding, but not only did I get a Christy Robinson necklace, I got a custom designed one!! I was so surprised and excited; it’s amazing!! Thank you so much, Mom, and Christy for designing the necklace (and even explaining to my mom how to PayPal she says)!
She also sent these adorable butterfly earrings!
My mom also got me season 1 of Ally McBeal, which was my favorite show in high school, a Starbucks gift card (can anyone say vegan frappaccinos until I drop?!), and a Kohl’s gift card. My dad gave me a Visa gift card, not to mention the pile of clothes he brought for my little guy!! Thank you, Dad, especially for coming to the party!! My aunt, uncle, and little cousin got me three new knives (which I needed so badly!), and my little cousin made me a special card all by herself. Thank you, Mike, Mindy, and little M! And my grandparent bought me a dress (which I’m going to wear today) I picked out while my grandma was staying with me last week. I have the most awesome family ever!! Thank you so much Dad, Mom, Jeff, Grandma, Grandpa, Mike, Mindy, Little M, Chris, and Little Guy for such an amazing birthday. And it isn’t even over yet!!
Well, I’m pretty sure I met my monthly quota for exclamation points in this post alone. I’ll leave you with a little nostalgia- pictures from my first four birthdays. I hope you have a great day!
