Earth-Friendly Grocery Bags From ReusableBags.com

February 4, 2010 by Keri

Since I’ve been toting the same set of paper bags back and forth from Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s for awhile now (and they were starting to look a little shabby), I decided it was time to invest in a reusable cloth set of bags.  So I Googled reusable grocery bags, and the first site to come up was reusablebags.com.  The site is super easy to navigate and after looking around I decided on the ACME EarthTote because they stand on their own, wipe clean inside, are heavy duty, and look like a paper bag (but in reusable form with a handy side pocket).

Reusable Grocery Bags

Since I ordered 6 bags, I got them at a slightly cheaper price and the shipping was quick at less than a week (I ordered last Friday afternoon and received them today, Thursday).  I highly recommend checking out reusablebags.com.  Imagine how many of those dreadful plastic bags you’ll save from sitting in a landfill for hundreds of years!  Plus, I feel so much safer carrying my groceries in these sturdy bags.  I can’t count the number of times back in my plastic bag days that I had to collect items off the ground that escaped through a tear in the bag, once a glass jar of salsa shattering all over the pavement right behind my back tire.  I’m so glad I’ve switched to doing good for the planet, and my groceries!

  1. Ahhhh, I love Reusable Bags! Such a terrific website! I LOVE the look of these Acme bags! Somehow a lot of my reusable bags have disappeared (?!), so I’ve been thinking about ordering more. The side pocket on these is brilliant!

I agree, the side pocket is the best… We only use reusable bags, and I’m sort of addicted to them now…Hubby has told me that “We have enough”… so I finally stopped purchasing them for myself… But they are great gifts for others *wink*

I really love them! I’ve always loved canvas totes and such, but this is my first set that I purchased specifically for grocery shopping. Love, love the pocket! I never thought I’d have so many choices when it came to shopping for grocery bags!
I was definitely thinking of using them as “usable gift bags” and putting kitchen and foodie type goodies in them! Such a fun idea!

Those are good looking bags! My Trader Joe’s bag are getting shabby, too, but still function fine, so they’ll do until it’s time for new ones. I think I will upgrade and get something a bit nicer. I don’t necessarily want to be an advertisement for and grocery stores all the time I tote a bag anywhere.

Yeah, I feel the same way. I didn’t buy the reusables they sell at the checkouts because they plaster their logo across the side and I feel like a walking advertisement no matter where I shop.

  6. Those bags look awesome! I love reusable bags. 😀
