Dixie’s Vegan Peanut Butter Birthday Bones
Today is our dog Dixie’s 5th birthday! To celebrate, I always make her special dog treats. Actually, Dixie’s homemade vegan dog treats became kind of famous around here. As simple as they are to make, family members request them for their dogs for holidays, people at my old office would buy them by the container, and Dixie always has a look in her eye when she stands by the oven like she’s hoping for a fresh batch to appear. I got started making homemade dog treats back in college, when I got my own apartment and was able to adopt my first dog, and I spent a lot of time playing around with dog-friendly flavors and ingredients. No matter how fancy I tried to get though, my dogs seemed to prefer these simple peanut butter treats!

Ingredients:
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1/2 cup natural peanut butter
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 tablespoon wheat germ
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Blend ingredients until a stiff dough forms. Roll out dough, about 1/2 inch, and cut into desired shapes. On a foiled or sprayed cookie sheet, arrange treats and bake 13-15 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool and serve to your eager pups!

Is it weird that I want a dog treat? Yeah? Ok…
Sooo cute!
She’ll share, Andria!
Thank you!
