Bandwagon? Where?! Plus Vegan Cookies And Pizza

May 6, 2010 by Keri

Oh, at Starbucks?  I’m there.  I don’t even like chilled coffee drinks, so why did I find myself at a Starbucks ordering a frappuccino?  Because I can!  You’ve most likely read about Starbucks changing their frappuccinos to allow for a soy base if requested, and I couldn’t pretend I wasn’t a little excited.  I ordered a soy coffee frappuccio and upon taking a sip, I couldn’t believe how much I liked it.  It’s delicious!  I’m glad to have an occasional vegan frozen treat option when I’m near a Starbucks.

Vegan Starbucks

Since my mom left me a $10 off Kohl’s certificate that expired before she would be back, my grandma and I went to Kohl’s to look around.  I ended up with a nice little cotton summer dress, so I’m glad my mom passed the coupon along.  Following the Kohl’s trip, my grandpa came over for lunch, bringing my son and I veggie subs from Subway.  When I was little, my grandpa and I had garage sale adventures every Friday, and we’d talk and sing in the car the whole time, so it was really nice to get to have a lunch date with time for conversation.  We talked all about my blog and he said he’d check it out (Hi Grandpa!).

This evening, my uncle, aunt, and cousin came over again to play.  Tonight they brought pizza from Papa John’s, including the vegetarian with no cheese pizza for my son and I.  My uncle said he liked the veg one even better than their own cheesy pie!

Since I didn’t have to cook tonight (or today at all!) I ran to the store this afternoon to pick up a bag of vegan chocolate chips to make chocolate chip cookies for everyone.  I especially wanted to make them for my uncle, because they’re his favorite cookie.  As an egg replacer I used the fabulous “flax egg”, and they were really good even though I may have left them in a little too long.  I lost track of time while dancing with little man.  I’m telling you, that two year old has moves!  My uncle also frequently reads my blog, and I think my aunt too (so Hi Uncle Mike and Aunt Mindy!).

Vegan Cookie Recipes

I had a pretty commercial day as far as eating goes, but it’s worth the good company of family and I’m definitely grateful for them.  I’m pretty sure my mom’s cat, Bailey, is also pretty grateful I’m here, because he rarely acknowledges my existence and since I’ve been here he’s been acting completely lovey.  The poor guy must have been lonely!

I also wanted to make a mention of a couple of blog posts by other bloggers featuring my recipes.  What can I say?  I get excited when other blogs mention I Eat Trees!  Eat A Vegan made a really delicious looking loaf of Sun-Dried Tomato Herb Bread.  And Aimee the Vegan made her own tasty take on Eggplant Parmigiana. Well, Bailey is getting impatient with my blogging.  I hope you had a great day!

I still haven’t tried the Starbucks but I’m actually pretty excited to even though I’m not a huge coffee person either. It’s just nice to have that OPTION. And I love me some Papa John’s on nights where I just can’t muster the strength to cook. 😛 I get the garlic butter sauce to top my pizza since that’s vegan as well. If you haven’t tried it, I recommend!

Oh and that kitty…too cute! 😀

    • Keri says:

They have the strawberries and cream frapp also, which isn’t coffee. 🙂 And thank you for the tip on the garlic sauce! I haven’t tried it because I assumed it wasn’t vegan.

I haven’t tried the new fraps yet but I fully intend to. Please save me a seat on the bandwagon.

  3. I had that same coupon, and ended up with new rug for the kitchen. I never think to order pizza without the cheese. Are restaurant pizza doughs always vegan, or do you always ask?

Orange kitty love!! The orange guys are always my fave.

    • Keri says:

Not all are, they could have eggs or dairy incorporated into the crust. A lot of them are though, so I just ask. I’ve been pleasantly surprised at the number of pizza joints that know what I’m talking about when I mention vegan before I even have to specify! 🙂

between the Sbux and the Choc chip cookies, i am drooling!

    • Keri says:

😀 Luckily, I bagged up the cookies and passed them out or else I may have eaten more than my fair share!

Uhmmm this starbucks news totally made my day. I love ice coffee season, and starbuck’s iced vanilla soy latte has filled a small void – but I’ve mostly switched to black iced coffee! This is going to be the best treat ever!!!

    • Keri says:

They’re SO good! I had one nearly every day I was at my mom’s…. Good thing I don’t have a Starbucks too close to my house. 😛

Thats where I think im heading today! I havent had starbucks in ages because coffee usually gives me a headache, but i want to go get a frapp because I can now 🙂 Plus they are having this thing called frappyhour until tomorrow!
