Annie Chun’s Vegan Sushi Wraps

June 1, 2010 by Keri

Awhile back my mom gave me this Annie Chun’s Sushi Wraps kit.  I was really excited about trying it, but I’ve honestly never made vegan sushi before (it’s on my to-do list) and I was a little bit nervous despite the apparent ease of the kit.  Today I finally broke out the carrots and cucumber and decided it was time to give this kit a try.

It couldn’t have been simpler.  All you do is julienne your veggies, heat the sticky rice for one minute, and wrap!  The nori is pre-cut into roll-sized strips, so no knife necessary.  I definitely didn’t do an artistic job of wrapping, but the rice is so sticky the rolls held together without a problem.  Next time, I will definitely make sure to cut the veggie sticks to the length of the nori strips before wrapping, but I can definitely think of all sorts of vegan sushi creations I’d never find for sale around here.  Delicious!

  1. I JUST bought this kit at the store! I’m glad to hear it’s easy. I was worried that without a bamboo mat, my nori would be loose as a goose and all the filling would fall out

I’ll have to check it out the next time I am at the store. Thanks for the review.
