A Surprise Vegan Beauty Gift

March 20, 2010 by Keri

When I stepped out to get the mail Wednesday, I was surprised by a large box sitting on the front step.  I wasn’t expecting anything, especially anything so large, so I couldn’t imagine what it could be.  When I picked up the box and noticed the Australia post tag, I could only think of one person it could be, but what was it?!  I met Sarah through a previous blog, and we’ve remained Twitter and email friends ever since. Obviously, I ripped open the box like it contained a vital organ of some sort, because who doesn’t have that childlike excitement over receiving unexpected, non-bill mail?!  My reaction was pure shock.  Knowing that I had been having trouble finding vegan beauty products, Sarah actually went out of her way to research and put together a vegan beauty package for me, along with an incredibly sweet letter.  With the combined sentiment and excitement, I thought I was going to cry!  She also compiled a list of websites that sold vegan products so that I could easily find them in the future (I’m going to go ahead and post the list because, while I know all of my readers aren’t interested, I think it may help a few of you as well).  This is like the person in front of you in line buying your coffee, but 8 million times better!!

Vegan Beauty Products

I’m so blessed to have such thoughtful people in my life and things like this keep the thoughtfulness going around.  Sarah’s beauty blog isn’t exclusively about vegan cosmetics, but she said that doing the research for this package has really gotten her interested in purchasing more ecofriendly and vegan products.  I can’t wait to try everything out (If you can’t tell, I’m a little excited about her gift.), and it’s so cool to get to try out some Australian brands like Inika Cosmetics, because I don’t think I’m going to be able to afford an Australian vacation anytime soon.  Thank you so much, Sarah; I can’t say enough about the thoughtfulness of this package!

LUSH!! That stuff is amazing. There’s a LUSH store at the Mall of America here in the Twin Cities. My mom bought me some stuff there the last time she visited. Smells great and most products are vegan 🙂 Many thanks to Sarah for the AWESOME list of where to shop for eco-friendly vegan beauty products! Is she taking applications for more vegan friends in the U.S.? 😉

    Hi Keri,

I’m so glad it all arrived safely! I loved reading your post (you’re so sweet!) and look forward to reading your subsequent reviews. As you said in your post, this research has been a really interesting process for me, and has made me much more interested in trying eco-vegan beauty products. It’s great to support e-tailers who are trying to do something positive for the planet.

Hi Andrea! So sweet! 🙂 The only think I’ve tried from ZuZu Luxe is the mascara and I didn’t like it, but maybe I just got a dried up tube. I really want to get their pink blush- Nymph something I think? xoxo!
